Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha

Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha is a Senior IEEE Member and Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Kathmandu University, Nepal, with over 24 years of combined expertise in academia, research, and industry. Since July 2024, he has served as the Associate Director of the Kathmandu University IT Center (KUITC).

As the Lead Researcher of the IoT R&D Lab at Kathmandu University, he spearheads projects in Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) and Small Language Modeling (SLM). Previously, he held leadership roles at KIIT University, Chandigarh University, Christ University, Nepal Television (as Technical Director), and Nepal Telecom Authority (as Consultant).

A key expert for Nepal’s AI Policy 2081, Prof. Jha has advised the Government of Nepal and mentored the AI Concept Paper for CAN Federation. He also serves as Vice President of npCERT, driving national cybersecurity initiatives.
